Los Angeles Chapter of REFORMA is offering one conference scholarships for 2012, allowing one MLIS student to attend the Annual American Library Association Conference in Anaheim June 21-26. Through this scholarship, Los Angeles Chapter of REFORMA aims to help students attend conference for their professional growth, learn new and innovative library concepts, and expand their networking skills.

The Scholarship will pay for registration costs and the Denim & Diamonds Gala Dinner and Dance (if able to attend) to benefit the REFORMA Educational Foundation.

Student must be meet the following criteria to apply for the conference scholarship:
1. Must be a student of an accredited MLIS school.

2. Live within the Los Angeles Greater Metropolitan Area

3. Be in need of financial aid

4. Winners will be expected to report after the conference and share with members of LA Chapter of REFORMA

REFORMA Los Angeles Chapter is pleased to announce the 2012 Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros Mini Grant. Please find attached the mini grant application for $250.00 towards a Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros event at a public or school library in Los Angeles County. REFORMA Los Angeles Chapter attends Creando Enlaces a Baja and Southern California Conference to Expand Library Borders on Friday, January 13 and Saturday, January 14th. Friday was a full day of workshops, where Cynthia Bautista and Sonia Bautista presented “Connecting Teens Across Borders”. On Saturday morning we started with poster session presentations in the morning and visits to a San Diego Public library, San Diego County library and an academic library. We enjoyed meeting librarians from San Diego and from Baja California and plan to work together in future events.

This conference was presented by San Diego Public Library, Serra Cooperative Library System, LIBROS, Reforma, San Diego State University, Friends of the Logan Heights Library, and ABIBAC (Baja California Library Association).
